It’s back on, baby! Sydney’s Australian Esports League are coming to Hamilton to run ‘The Greater Hamilton Esports Cup’, for the first time ever in Western Victoria. 

This is a whole weekend of FREE competitive gaming for all ages in The Hub, Hamilton! Plus, AEL are running workshops for high school students and offering their Free Play Zone at the DigiHub event on Friday before the tournaments kick off! 

Play games with a cult following like Super Smash Bros, Minecraft, Just Dance 2022 and Mario Kart, using the latest gaming equipment. The drop-in Free Play Zone will have other awesome games suitable for beginners too, with all ages welcome to join in the fun. 

For High School students we have an exclusive Super Smash Bro’s tournament on the Sunday, too! 

Players can win cash prizes and gaming accessories from the $1,225 prize pool.

This live-streamed, commentated event is brought to the Greater Hamilton region by Southern Grampians Shire Council, who have coordinated other gaming-themed events that weekend, starting Fri 27 May when the free Digital Education and Innovation Hub takes over The Hub, 1-7pm! 

Dive in and discover drones, virtual reality, 3D printers, robots, animation, gadgets and esports gaming, all while exploring pathways, careers and opportunities in the booming tech industry.

Featured games include:

  • Super Smash Bros Ultimate – A ultimate brawl between some of the most popular characters of all time in played on the Nintendo Switch in 1 v 1 format, players are seeded into a tournament bracket to play against one another until the champion is determined. There will be both a High School and Opens event! 
  • Rocket League – For High School students only, player soccer with rocket powered cars in a 1 v 1 Format on Nintendo Switch, school students are seeded into a tournament bracket to play against one another until the champion is determined. 
  • Mario Kart – Race around a track as one of Nintendo’s popular characters, players will be seeded into race pools with the fastest drivers going through until the champion is crowned! 
  • Just Dance 2022 – Get your groove on with this dance simulator, players will go head to head to see who has the best moves and can set the highest score!
